Capuchin Soup Kitchen Harvest Dinner
Please join us Sunday, November 8, 2PM at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen located at 1264 Meldrum, Detroit for a wonderful harvest meal to celebrate Michigan's bounty. We will hear from a turkey farmer about their farming methods and the importance of supporting our local farmers. This is a family event so please bring your children. We will have a lot of fun things for the kids. The price is $35.00 per family or $18.00 per person. Please pay when you arrive with check or cash. Clarkston Farmers Market

Celebrating Slow Food
Come join Slow Food Detroit and Chef Frank Turner at the demonstration of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital on December 3, from 6:30-8:30 PM where Chef Frank will take us on a Slow Food journey and teach us about The Slow Food Movement. Learn how shopping and eating within our local food shed can strengthen our local economy.Meet local ranchers and farmers who will explain to us what it takes for them to supply us with nutritional food for our families.Come and explore their product by tasting the generous sampling of the recipes created by Chef Frank. Come hungry as these samples are very generous.
They are located at 6777 W. Maple Rd, W. Bloomfield, MI. The cost for this event is $49.00 and a portion of the proceeds will be generously donated back to Slow Food Detroit.. Please call 248-325-3890 to make your reservation. Reservations close on November 29th.
We had another sold out event at Sherwood Brewing in Shelby Township on October 20. Ray and Lisa Sherwood and their staff cooked up a great meal of locally produced food and wonderfully brewed beer. They gave us great info on all the producers they used. Ray paired this wonderful five course meal with some of the best brews around that he created. He educated us about these great brews. Thanks Sherwood.
Potluck Dinner @ Capuchin Soup Kitchen
Please join us on Wednesday,September 9, 2009 at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1264 Meldrum, Detroit from 6-8pm for a potluck dinner to help us send a message to Congress that real food for school lunches is a necessity to make our children healthy. We will have a petition that attendees may sign and we will send it to Congress. The Child Nutrition Act is coming up for re-authorization. This eat-in is simply a way to get together to discuss the issues as well as eat real food. It is a pot-luck so we encourage anyone who will be attending to bring a dish to pass.
